Simulating Improved Field Management for Sugarcane using AquaCrop Model to Respond Water Scarcity

Abstract Sugar demand in Indonesia is still increasing although its productivity remains low due to several constraints. Water scarcity also plays significant role on decreasing sugarcane production Indonesia. Improved methods are strongly required be applied by farmers as climate-smart strategies, for instance drip irrigation and organic mulching. AquaCrop a modelling software which useful simulate water balance crop yield corresponding certain field managements. This study aimed compare conventional i.e. rainfed (Scenario 1) furrow 2) combined no mulching application improved 3) Results shows that requirement of lower than irrigation. Both evaporation runoff method considerably higher other scenarios. Rainfed display similar content soil depth method. Crop was 8% presents lowest stress. has 12-20% methods. Hence, implementation can increase well reduce order respond climate change.
